Speaking at Public Policy Exchange event on fuel poverty, 22 November 2016

Mari Martiskainen was invited by Public Policy Exchange to speak about fuel poverty at the 'Warmer, Healthier and Fairer: Tackling Fuel Poverty' event. Dr Martiskainen was on a panel alongside MP Alan Whitehead, the Vice Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Fuel Poverty and Energy Efficiency, and James Kerry, Senior Policy Advisor on Fuel Poverty Strategy to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

Presentation at IEA DSM Task 24 workshop, Wellington, New Zealand 8 July 2016

Mari Martiskainen presented her work on fuel poverty at the IEA DSM Task 24 workshop organised at the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment on 8 July. The presentation was titled “The Fuel Bill Drop Shop - an investigation into community action on fuel poverty”.

Paper presented at SCORAI conference, Maine 15-17 June 2016

Mari Martiskainen presented a paper titled "The politics of grassroots innovations" at the Second International Conference of the Sustainable Consumption Research and Action Initiative (SCORAI), which took place at the University of Maine on 15-17 June. The theme of the conference this year was "Transitions Beyond a Consumer Society". Mari Martiskainen also chaired a session on "Track: Energy: Agency, Activism & Grassroots Action".

Community Solutions to Fuel Poverty workshop, Energise Sussex Coast, 13 May 2016

Tackling fuel poverty, whose responsibility is it?, ESRC Festival of Social Science, 10 November 2015 

CIED researcher Mari Martiskainen organised a public debate as part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science. The debate took place in Brighton on 10 November 2015. Panellists represented a variety of stakeholders and included the following: Martin Aylward, Head of Customer Development, EDF Energy; Jane Eyles, Head of Housing Services, BHT Housing Services; Tony Glover, Director of Policy, Energy Networks Association; Tracey Hill, Labour and Co-operative Councillor for Hollingdean and Stanmer ward, Deputy Chair of Housing & New Homes Committee; Ed Matthew, Associate Director, Energy Bill Revolution; and Dr Giovanna Speciale, Director, South East London Community Energy. The event was introduced by CIED researcher Dr Mari Martiskainen and chaired by broadcast journalist Rob Broomby.
